ADULT PROGRAMS

Adults

The Library attempts to arrange courses on weekday mornings for individuals or groups seeking computer use training at various levels, language instruction, or other activity. Teachers or qualified volunteers are encouraged to bring us ideas for courses.

Microsoft Word and Internet

Leisurely paced courses in the use of Microsoft Word or the Internet are scheduled from time to time during the academic year, for adults and senior citizens.  Taught in Spanish, they are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon for approximately 5 weeks per session.

 

Soft Yoga

Day: Wednesdays, 10:00 am to 12:00 noon

Low-impact yoga with meets for two hours every Wednesday morning. Bring your mat and join in at any time throughout the year. Cost is $8.00 per session for adults, discounted to $5.00 for seniors (60 years of age and up) (in Spanish).

English for Teens and Adults

Available at selected Jane Stern Satellite Community Libraries. Call the library in Dorado at 796-3675 for information.

Spanish Conversation

Wednesdays, 1:00 pm -2:00 pm

 Informal classes for everyday Spanish with Marirosi Martínez.

CompTIA IT TRAINING & PEARSON VUE TESTING

CompTIA, the international computing technology industry’s trade association, is dedicated to helping individuals and professionals acquire the necessary knowledge, skills, and credentials to get started in building a successful IT career path. 

​

As a CompTIA Academic Partner, the Jane Stern Community Library in Dorado offers a range of CompTIA training courses for individuals preparing for a career as a computer technician or professionals who wish to advance in a variety of fields. The courses prepare individuals to acquire the certifications that are a prerequisite for jobs in a long list of local, national and international companies.

Courses for certification at the basic levels of IT training are offered from time to time with scholarships for qualified university students. Rates for professionals and companies are below market.

The library is a qualified Pearson Vue Testing Center for all CompTIA certification exams, with the lowest prices in the market.  See “Advanced IT Training” under Programs for information about the most popular courses.
